Description
The Staff Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the quality systems that support Venshure Test Services’ current and expanding test capabilities. A major strategic initiative for this role will be leading quality and process development related to adding tailpipe emissions measurement capability to the VTC chassis dynamometer laboratories.This includes supporting facility expansion, planning and validating equipment layouts, developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ensuring compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal quality standards. The Staff Quality Engineer drives a culture of compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Test Operations:- Develop and implement strategies to optimize testing efficiency, reduce operational costs, and improve turnaround times.
- Interpret customer test requests and develop detailed test procedures, schedules, and data collection strategies.
- Interface directly with clients to define requirements, present results, and manage expectations throughout test programs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to test setup, data acquisition, and control systems.
- Champion process and innovation in support of improved testing methods and protocols.
Project Management:
- Lead the quality and process development effort for adding tailpipe emissions testing to the VTC cells.
- Collaborate with cross functionally to plan and validate equipment layout, workflow design, and infrastructure requirements.
- Provide quality oversight during the building expansion to ensure environmental, safety, and regulatory considerations are met.
- Develop all new procedures, work instructions, and control plans associated with emissions testing capability.
- Support commissioning activities, including equipment qualification, system readiness verification, and trial test runs.
Operational Quality Support:
- Partner with Test Engineering and Operations to assure accurate, reliable, and repeatable test data.
- Review test processes, data flow, and documentation for accuracy and consistency.
- Approve quality documentation, including test procedures, validation plans, calibration requirements, and risk assessments.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for issues affecting quality, data integrity, measurement accuracy, or facility readiness.
Compliance, Quality, and Safety:
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including safety and quality standards when executing testing activities for which the role is responsible for.
- Enforces compliance with quality standards to ensure the highest levels of customer / client satisfaction.
- Adheres to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions.
- Safeguard testing operations which accomplish safety, quality, output and cost performance
- Support facility compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product testing, laboratory operations, quality engineering, or related technical fields.
- Strong knowledge of relevant SAE and industry standards, such as CFR 1066 and SAE J1634
- Experience with emissions testing and dynamometer laboratories is strongly preferred.
- Track record of successfully developing / transforming safety cultures
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and drive cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
- Customer-focused mindset with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Spreadsheets and Databases
