The hiring bonus will not apply to City and County of Denver employees currently employed within the city or who have been separated from the city for fewer than six months.

We are seeking two Lead Airport Stationary Engineer with strong BAS, Controls and Mechanical skills to engage in the operation, maintenance, construction, and repair of Central Utility Plant equipment. This position will allow you to gain leadership experience and is a great steppingstone to future management roles.  You will work on very large-scale equipment including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, glycol heat exchangers, air handlers, and roof top units. What We Offer 

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The full salary range for this position is $36.45-56.50/hour. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $45-53/hour base pay, based on experience. Plus, we pay extra for Shift Differential Pay on Swing and Graveyard shifts. We pay 7% extra pay on top of base pay for Swing shifts, and 12% extra pay on top of base pay for Graveyard shifts (the starting range of $45-53/hour including Shift differential = Swing $48.15-56.71/hour and Graveyard $50.40-59.36/hour).

The City and County of Denver has announced furlough days, or unpaid days off, for most employees to meet a budget shortfall in 2025. There are two fixed furlough days for all limited (temporary positions with an end date) and unlimited (permanent) employees on August 29th, the Friday before Labor Day, and November 28th, the day after Thanksgiving. If you receive an offer for this position, your annual pay will determine whether you are required to take additional furlough days. Details will be discussed during the offer process for selected candidate(s).

Schedule: This position follows a 4/10 schedule—four days a week, 10 hours per day. Available shifts include Day (5:30 AM–3:30 PM), Swing (1:00 PM–11:00 PM), and Graveyard (8:30 PM–6:30 AM), with shift blocks running either Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday. Overtime is optional and readily available.

All new hires begin on a temporary assignment to the day shift (6:00 AM–4:00 PM) for initial onboarding and integration into site operations. After a six-month probationary period, you will be placed in your regular, assigned shift. At present, we n
