Project/Unit Description
GTRI’s Advanced Concepts Laboratory seeks qualified candidates for the position of Sensor/EW Software Engineer. This position involves design, prototype, integration and test of advanced sensors and electronic warfare systems. Qualified candidates will have experience in designing and implementing active / passive RF sensing systems and electronic warfare systems.
The Advanced Concepts Laboratory develops tailored solutions for a broad range of national security challenges through disciplined application of physics- and effects-based modeling to realizable systems, augmented with prototype development and testing. ACL’s research thrusts extend across domains, and include bio-, chemical-, RF-, and optical-sensor physics; materials science and engineering; electromagnetic theory, computation, structures, and measurements; electronic warfare techniques and applications; operational scenario modeling and simulation; traditional and asymmetric threat analysis; and ground maneuver warfare.
Job Purpose
A Sensor/EW Software Engineer advances and matures a wide variety of software for use in radar, EO/IR, electronic warfare (EW) systems or other electromagnetic applications. Their research centers on efficient and adaptive algorithms for high-throughput signal processing, sensor fusion, target tracking, resource scheduling, electronic attack (EA), electronic protection (EP), and system lifecycle management. In this role, the Sensor/EW Software Engineer is proficient in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, and demonstrates extensive knowledge in advanced mathematics and physics for sensor-based, EO/IR or EW applications. The engineer is experienced in software engineering and development principles, such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), DevOps, Application Programming Interface (API) development, container development, and distributed systems. The Sensor/EW Software Engineer also works as part of a broad team of researchers to innovate new concepts, identify technology stakeholders, and execute challenging research in the national interest.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of complex software systems in multiple domains
- Primary Author of technical reports and presentations, and can Lead team review of final deliverables
- Primary Author of pertinent white papers, and competitive proposals - Communicate technical objectives and justification to external sponsors and Internal leadership
- Take ownership of moderate sized team development, mentoring others
- Other related duties, as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with Electronic Warfare systems development
- MATLAB
- C++
- Ability to Obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Top Secret Clearance
- Experience with Python, Radar systems analysis
- Modeling and Simulation
- US Navy aircraft test and evaluation
