Job Purpose: The Warehouse General Manager is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the operations and financial performance of a warehouse. The person in this position should drive results through team leadership, process improvement and customer relationship management. This includes managing teams, optimizing operational efficiency, ensuring safety and compliance, and fostering a positive work environment. This position reports to the Director of Warehouse Ops.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily
- Provides clear direction and energetic leadership that fosters engagement, accountability and performance at every level.
- Handles daily operational issues and facilitates communication with all cross-functional departments.
- Analyzes financial performance, identifies areas of improvement and drives profitability.
- Responsible for the location adhering to inventory process and integrity while meeting customers' requirements for shrink allowance.
- Ensures operation exceeds customer expectations and provides excellent on-time service.
- Verifies all billing of location's customers is reviewed and approved in a timely manner.
- Reviews production/labor planning with managers daily as well as status updates to ensure labor needs and best practices.
- Monitors location's readiness to food safety standards through SQF policies and procedures.
- Build and develop a high performing team by setting expectations, coaching talent and celebrating success.
- Monitors FTE/Temp timecards and attendance to ensure accuracy and adherence to the company's processes.
- Creates a proactive safety culture through training, accountability and hands-on involvement.
- Maintains positive customer service interaction with internal customers, such as HR, customer services, sales, logistics, operations, etc.
Weekly
- Maintains equipment maintenance.
- Attends all strategic leadership meetings on a weekly basis.
Monthly
- KPI Tracking.
- Maintains and documents facility updates
- Generates warehouse reporting
Quarterly
- Performs performance reviews, sets team goals and projects forecasting in a timely manner.
- Participates in P&L review.
Job Complexity:
- Management skills and the ability to manage a staff of employees.
- Hires, trains, coaches, mentors and holds all warehouse staff accountable.
- Ability to lead or support IT modification projects.
- Ability to maintain an organized, neat and orderly operation as it pertains to the warehouse.
- Ensures that all project and client KPIs are met or exceeds expectation
- Requires knowledge of reporting requirements as it pertains to the warehouse.
- Good communication, problem resolution, and people skills.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to communicate, read, write, and speak English.
- 5 or more years of Warehouse Management experience
- Ability to report/track trending and historical data.
- Must have strong business writing and case analysis skills.
- Advance math and financial skills a must.
- Experience in Inventory Control, Transportation Warehouse.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, (Excel, Access, Visio and Power Point), data entry and general computer abilities.
- Experience in warehouse safety and safety training.
- College degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons.
- Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
- Regularly work in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
- Frequently required to talk, hear, stand and walk.
- Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
- Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time.
- Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision.
- Must hear speech out of both ears in the normal range of 30db at 500 to 2000 Hz range.
- Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
- Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.
