POSITION PURPOSE
Delivers on University Credit Unions core purpose of giving everyone in the University community a financial advantage by developing strategy, and providing financial models and recommendations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Identifies and analyzes trends using statistical analysis and mathematical modeling
- Maintains internal ALM model used for balance sheet and income statement forecasting and interest rate risk (IRR) assessments, which are conducted frequently, in accordance with the ALM policy
- Responsible for ensuring reasonableness of the model by conducting back-testing and model validations in accordance with the ALM Policy
- Works with management to develop assumptions in order to complete business projections and IRR simulations
- Provides recommendations to management related to IRR management in order to optimize the credit unions balance sheet and future earnings and to ensure risk is maintained within policy limits
- Participates in development of policy limits related to concentration risk limits, interest rate risk, liquidity, investments, and any other limits required by management and/or regulators
- Responsible for tracking and reporting compliance with policy limits.
- Responsible for development of budget and 3-Year forecast, including sensitivity analysis and other analysis to support results of the forecast
- Responsible for budget variance analysis
- Oversees daily cash management activities and is responsible for maintaining cash at levels required by policy
- Makes recommendations to management for borrowing or taking other appropriate steps to ensure liquidity levels are adequate to support short-term and long-term business-related requirements
- Responsible for loan and deposit products pricing analysis
- Oversees maintenance of funds transfer pricing systems
- Responsible for existing and new product, channel, and partnerships profitability
- Responsible for ad hoc financial analysis and reporting (new products, services, fees, rates, initiatives)
- Responsible for critical vendor and potential new vendor financial evaluations
- Responsible for the investment portfolio review and reporting
- Provides financial reports to management as requested
- Researches and implements new or enhanced financial applications, such as ALM, profitability and budgeting systems
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in finance, economics, mathematics or related fields from four-year college or university. MBA and/or CFP strongly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of asset/liability management, risk management, valuation, and treasury functions.
- Advanced knowledge of financial and accounting theory, principles and practices and ability to interpret financial and general ledger data.
- Ability to independently and efficiently prepare complex ad-hoc financial analyses with a high degree of accuracy, under general supervision.
- Strong presentation skills in PowerPoint, with the ability to visualize complex analyses in a straightforward manner.
- Thorough working knowledge, understanding, and experience calculating and interpreting credit union/banking key metrics, ratios and trends.
- Advanced Excel experience including creation and use of macros in VBA, pivot tables and statistical functions including add-ins.
