Radiation Therapist-Senior (UTHP Radiology Oncology Cancer Center)

Under limited supervision, responsible for the administrations of targeted doses of radiation as prescribed by a radiologist in the treatment of cancer and other diseases. May lead or mentor lower level team members.

• Assists in preparing sealed radioactive materials, calculates actual treatment dosages, prepares equipment such as immobilization, treatment and protection.
• Develops and implements patient treatment plans using radiation therapy techniques and radiopharmaceuticals.
• Ensures proper application and safety techniques, and use and maintenance of equipment.
• Ensures machine alignment, lasers, interlocks, and beam/light field alignment; maintains daily records to be filed, and reporting problems.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree and graduate of AMA accredited program in Radiation Therapy Technology is required.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:

• Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists in Radiation Therapy and licensed in Medical Radiological Technology by the Texas State Department of Health is required.
