Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 2:30 – 6 p.m./ Wednesday: 12:30 – 6 p.m.

Program:

SBCS Before and After School Programs work with local schools to provide safe environments for students to engage in extended learning and recreational activities provided for by the ASES and ASSETS grants. BASP programs include homework support, organized sports, arts activities and a multitude of academic activities for youth in an environment parents can rely on to be safe daily until 6 p.m. These programs are housed in both traditional public and charter schools from 1st- 12th grades.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of SBCS BASP Program Supervisor and Site Supervisor, the School Program Youth Leader TK-8 is responsible for the supervision, development and implementation of academic, enrichment, and social-emotional well-being for groups of 10-20 children in grades TK-8 participating in the after-school program. Youth Leader will also assist students in improving academic skills and reaching performance goals in core academic subjects. The School Program Youth Leader TK-8 is responsible for working in collaboration with the school site personnel to meet the SBCS and applicable grant afterschool program goals and objectives. Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission and style and provided within a team framework.


DUTIES:

  • Participates in the planning, implementation of the program in accordance with the goals and policies of SBCS, State of California Department of Education and TK-8 Before and After School Program that will ensure the success of Charter or elementary Schools
  • Participate in the preparation of age-appropriate activities, classroom or small group projects and special activities or events that align with the STEAM model of providing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics curriculum. 
  • Organize age-appropriate materials and supplies to facilitate use by students, including cleaning up work areas following activities and group rotations. 
  • Participate in the preparation of daily schedule/curriculum, which may include academic enrichment, snack distribution, recreation and/or leadership development as needed.
  • Establish cooperative and effective working relationships with children and adults, ensuring to treat everyone in program with dignity and respect. 
  • Assist and guide students by maintaining a professional demeanor and appropriate role modeling, emotional support, patience, a friendly and engaging attitude, and ensuring emergency procedures and safety are ensured at all times.
