  Verdantas is seeking a Field Technician II. This position will be located in San Diego, CA. 

Responsibilities:

• Fieldwork related to soils engineering and construction, including compaction testing of soils, aggregates, and asphalt
• Observation of grading activities and foundation construction, identification and sampling of construction materials, and special inspection of concrete, masonry, and steel
• Nuclear testing gauge, ACI, ICC, DSA, and AWS certifications preferred
• Perform both routine and advanced lab tests related to field and soils, and construction materials
• Assists in technical computations and analyses
• Perform complex tests under close supervision
• Assists in the coordination of field and laboratory work
• Operate and maintain field testing equipment, perform troubleshooting, and maintain calibration of equipment
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
• Must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines and shall demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
• Prior experience working the in geotechnical environment a plus
• Math, analytical, and writing skills are required and must be willing to "learn by doing"

Qualifications:

•  High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associates Degree preferred
•  2-4 years of experience with collecting soil, groundwater, concrete, or sediment samples
•  Capable of working Primarily in an outdoor work environment and occasional office environment
•  Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. occasionally with or without accommodation, sometimes over substantial distances
•  Must have a personal vehicle to travel to work sites
•  Must possess a valid driver’s license
•  Must be able to travel for extended periods of time, on occasions
•  Must be able to pass a drug screening and background check
