JOB SUMMARY
This job requires providing support to clinical staff and supervisors as appropriate to promote patient care by taking on any task and/or assignment as indicated, including assisting patients with activities of daily living, monitoring and observation, transport, documentation, answering phones/doors and other clerical duties as assigned.
When assigned to the front desk area, this job provides minimal essential coverage of, reception, patient registration and medical record services support, under the direction of the appropriate supervisor, or the Director of Clinical Operations. This includes both routine activities (monitoring the front desk and lobby entrances) and tasks which vary in volume and nature.

Direct/Indirect patient care:
For inpatient services: Making rounds, observing patients in seclusion and /or restraints, assisting patients with hygiene, monitoring and assisting with meals, escorting patients to appointments, taking vital signs, obtaining/transporting specimens, assisting patients in doing laundry or retrieving personal belongings from lockers, assisting in assaultive situations, talking with patients, participating in groups with Rehabilitation therapies staff; Documentation of rounds, seclusion/restraint checks, nutritional intake, vital signs, intake and output, calorie count, level of activity; communication of observations and any abnormal findings to the RN.
For outpatient services: Assisting with patient intake and discharge/exit services, and providing clerical administrative support for medical records.

Administrative support and Patient Registration:
Answering phones/doors, stocking supplies, stamping charts, completing lab slips, making appointments, initiating varied paperwork.
Clerical administrative support including calendaring, copying, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
For all patients: Registers admissions, verifies eligibility, obtains authorization codes and notifies insurance agencies of admissions, completes appropriate admission documents in both Apex and Psych Consult.
For inpatients: Escort admissions to Unit and assists Unit nurses and staff in the collection and return of patient valuables. Supports Officer of the Day (OD) as needed, including paging OD when admission arrives. Runs emergency errands under direction of Unit nursing staff to pharmacy, laboratory, Moffitt/Long hospitals or other destinations as requested.
Assist patient with select admission paperwork.
