Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled and process-focused Principal Engineer to support our Landing Systems Segment. This key role is instrumental in driving performance excellence and spearheading strategic initiatives to strengthen Enterprise alignment. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading critical RLPM initiatives, advancing program excellence, and driving continuous improvement by maturing processes, policies, and governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with organizational standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across RTX.

What You Will Do:

  • Analyze current engineering processes to identify areas for efficiency improvement and backlog reduction.
  • Develop and implement sustainable process solutions to ensure quick turnaround times and long-term operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and integrate best practices across the Landing Systems product lines.
  • Support the implementation of an Engineering Process Analysis Turnback review process, identifying root causes of inefficiencies and implementing mitigation strategies to improve performance.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of mechanical product design and detailed design definitions to support engineering process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace industry specifications, standards, and materials to maintain product quality and safety.
  • Provide technical guidance to the engineering team, suppliers, and other stakeholders on process-related matters.
  • Provide Project Engineering support and guidance to the engineering team to ensure operational excellence.
  • Lead and manage the review, prioritization, and resolution of Engineering process and procedures to ensure timely and effective implementation of RLPM.
  • Support other functions as required to effectively implement RLPM within Landing Systems.
  • Support Landing Systems RLPM lead to define, monitor, and report performance metrics for RLPM initiatives, utilizing data-driven insights to assess impact, prioritize efforts, and inform decision-making.
  • Provide executive-level updates on initiative execution, challenges, and outcomes, ensuring transparency and alignment with key stakeholders.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to engineering processes, such as turnback resolution metrics, RLPM performance metrics, and program performance metrics
  • Use data-driven insights to propose and justify process improvement initiatives.
  • Up to 25% as needed.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Experience using MS suite, and other program management tools.
  • Experience leading with continuous improvement mindset and knowledge of CORE, LEAN, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement framework.
