THE ROLE & THE TEAM

As a Product Safety Team Lead, you will lead and continuously develop a high impact and performing team of cross functional experts. You  will be required to work with vigour, agility and open mind while overseeing handling product safety matters, implementation of new and innovative processes based on legislative requirements and industry standards and wider company objectives. 

You will lead your team to success by keeping the Zalando customer as your focus and offering only product assortment that is compliant. 

You successfully manage a wide range of internal and/or external stakeholders and champion Zalando’s product safety & quality assurance message.

You will  support Head in defining departments strategy and autonomously define and implement projects and processes required to achieve your team’s KPIs while ensuring resources are effectively used. 

While demonstrating deep professional knowledge and experience of product compliance your role will involve mentoring and upskilling your team to ensure business continuity and individual progression.

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• You’ll set and drive product safety strategy for the assortment supplied by the wholesale brands to ensure only safe and compliant products are offered to Zalando customers. 

• You will translate internal compliance framework and guidelines into operational processes while demonstrating the ability to turn complex EU and local product compliance requirements into scalable processes and solutions. 

• You’ll oversee timely execution of existing and implement new robust processes to ensure product non-conformities are identified and managed effectively internally (interface to Buying)  and externally (Partner management) striving to continuously improve product safety and compliance at Zalando. 

• You will be responsible for supporting your Team in internal and external escalations resulting from product safety issues and ensure preventative mechanisms are in place to avoid such cases.  

• You will be responsible for your teams’ develpoment and create a highly engaged culture and motivated team and collaborative working environment. 

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF..

• You have an advanced professional knowledge of European legislative requirements applicable to Zalando product range. Min 5-10 years of work experience in the retail industry in the following sectors: apparel, footwear, accessories. 

• You bring strong analytical, strategic, planning and problem-solving skills with the declared intention to drive prevention focus and proven track record in project management. 

• You have excellent leadership skills, proven record of leading and developing a medium- sized team of cross-functional experts. (min. 5 years experience in leadership roles) 

• You have excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills in both written and spoken English.
