FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, PRN

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday & Monthly Weekend Rotation

Wage Rate: $30 - $41 depending on experience

General Summary: The Physical Therapy Assistant will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity and safety of a client’s care and supervised by a licensed Physical Therapist.

Essential Job Duties: 

• Provides or makes provision for client care in compliance with Physical Therapy Practice Act, physicians’ orders, and Clinical Pathways as they become available.
• Initiates and applies appropriate preventative, therapeutic and rehabilitative procedures and techniques and maintains communication regarding client care with the physician and supervisory personnel. 
• Assesses and provides client and family/caregiver education and information pertinent to diagnosis and plan of care. 
• Participates in coordination of physical therapy services; appropriately reporting the need for disciplines (OT, MSW, ST, Dietitian) to the case manager. 
• Reports change in client status and pertinent clinical findings to the physician, supervising PT, case manager and/or Clinical Coordinator as needed. 
• Assists the client with the activities of mobility and facilitates the client’s efforts toward self-sufficiency and independence. 

Qualifications

• Possesses a degree from a program in physical therapy approved by an accredited organization. 
• Has at least two years of appropriate experience as a physical therapy assistant. 
• Has excellent observation, good clinical judgment, and good oral and written communication skills. 
• Is licensed to practice as physical therapy assistant within the State of Illinois.
