Definition of Class
This position provides leadership, guidance, and direction in career planning and experiential learning programs. The incumbent engages, guides, and advises students in career planning; leads efforts to cultivate internal and external relationships to develop student internships and experiential learning; creates and facilitates career planning workshops; and develops, assesses, and reports student learning outcomes.
The School of Business Administration at The University of Mississippi, Oxford campus, is seeking qualified candidates for an administrative role dedicated to supporting undergraduate business students by strengthening its experiential learning program. The position involves a high level of autonomy and discretion, and requires a person with dependability, creativity, and genuine concern for the future success of students.
Examples of Work Performed
- Develops and oversees program and project plans, ensuring that initiatives are implemented and delivered on time and within budget, while cultivating and maintaining experiential learning opportunities through strong partnerships with organizations.
- Support and prepare students seeking internships for both academic credit and non-academic purposes.
- Establish ongoing relationships and explore options to expand experiential opportunities for business students in all majors continually.
- Collaborate with the Career Center, Internship Coordinators Network, Business Connect, Office of Community Engagement, other faculty, administrators, stakeholders, and alumni to leverage existing and new relationships with organizations.
- Coordinate outreach efforts both within and outside the School of Business Administration, including serving as liaison to the Business School student organizations.
- Administer, utilize, and co-manage the employer relationship management database.
- Advocate for and promote career opportunities and events through multi-channels of communication, such as College Central Network, Handshake, and LinkedIn.
- Plan and execute related virtual and in-person events, such as the Internship Fair, welcome days, workshops, and student club presentations.
- Advise students in all aspects of career education, job searching, and professional development.
- Collect, track, analyze, evaluate, and report on internship experiences and experiential learning opportunities.
- Instruct a Business Communication course.
- Perform similar or related duties as required or assigned.
Essential Functions
These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and

- Provides leadership, guidance and direction in career planning and experiential learning programs.
- Creates and facilitates career planning workshops.
- Develops, assesses, and reports student learning outcomes.
- Instructs business courses and creates course curriculum.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education:
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
AND
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, well-developed interpersonal skills, and a high level of familiarity with and knowledge of career databases and social media resources.
Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
