How would you like to be a software engineer contributing to the development of flight simulators and training systems for some of the coolest military and commercial aircraft, ground vehicles and unmanned vehicles? Collins Aerospace is looking for a dynamic Software Engineer to become part of the team in Binghamton, NY that is responsible for simulator systems architecture, networking, computer systems, and software interfaces to hardware. This position is located onsite at our Binghamton, NY site. May be eligible for relocation.
What you will do:
Design, code, integrate, unit test and document software.
Troubleshoot hardware/software interface issues.
Perform software debugging using appropriate techniques and tools.
Performs in cross-functional team efforts in integration, verification and validation for products and sub-systems.
Provides engineering estimates for own work on tasks similar to those previously performed.
Contribute to software engineering requirements capture, analysis and creation for well-defined software designs.
Document all steps required to load required operating systems, software, drivers, and operational loads on computer system.
Define and implement solutions required to meet customer requirements.
Document design and implementation artifacts as required.
Individual job duties may vary.
May lead smaller team efforts.
May be an expert in a given aircraft system, simulation concept, or development tool
Education and experience:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Working knowledge of both Windows and Linux Operating Systems
Experience with network topology and configuration.
Experience with the Hardware/Software interface to Input/Output devices such as commercial off the shelf industrial automation devices.
Knowledge/experience with scripting
Strong understanding of Cybersecurity concepts
Significant industry experience preferred.
