We are currently seeking a IT Facilities Design Engineer to join our team in Yonkers, New York (US-NY), United States (US).

 

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Oversight: Design rack elevations, including cable management, cooling and ventilation, power distribution, compliance and documentation utilizing AutoCAD to create and edit design layouts for IDF/MDF installations.
• Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendors for materials, services, and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and quality compliance.
• Preventative Maintenance: Schedule and implement preventative maintenance plans for all IT facilities equipment and infrastructure, documenting procedures and outcomes.
• Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive records and reports relevant to operations, maintenance, and compliance within the industry.
• Shift Management: Oversee rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, ensuring adequate coverage and response capability.
• Physical Demands: Perform physical tasks associated with the role, including lifting (50 lbs or more), climbing ladders, and maintaining agility in varied positions.

 

Basic Requirements

• Experience: 3+ years of experience in a IT infrastructure environment 
• Physical Ability: Capable of standing for extended periods, climbing, and performing manual tasks as necessary.
• Driving Record: Valid and insurable driving record

 

Additional Skills

•  Proficient in AutoCAD and Visio, with substantial experience in cable and fiber installation and troubleshooting.
• Project Management: Experience with request and change management processes, as well as scheduling for preventative maintenance.
• Safety Awareness: Ability to wear and work with various forms of personal protective equipment as required by job duties.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting floor plans, blueprints and schematics.
• Experience using voltage testing equipment, UPSs and HVAC systems.
• Understanding of fiber optic test data
• Familiar with OSP/ISP engineering cable design and connectivity

 

Education/Certification Preferences

• Associate’s degree in technology or with a minimum of five years of related experience in IT Facility technology environment.
• Prior knowledge of Mission Critical or Data Center environments is highly preferred.
• AutoCAD certification.

 

Communication Skills

• Strong comprehension and interpretation skills for instructions, memos, and reports.
• Ability to write routine correspondence and respond effectively to inquiries from clients, coworkers, and supervisors.
