In this role, you’ll help ensure that the avionics systems serving our Air Transport customers are not only cutting-edge, but safe, reliable, and ready for the challenges of modern aviation.  This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical rigor, cross-functional collaboration, and mission-driven engineering. You’ll influence system-level design decisions, guide programs through critical safety milestones, and help build products that pilots, passengers, and operators trust every day.</p><p></p><p><b>This role will be worked hybrid in Cedar Rapids, IA; Burnsville, MN; or Bothell; WA.   <span>Relocation assistance is available</span>.</b></p><p></p><p><b>What You Will Do:</b></p><ul><li><p>Perform civil safety assessment process in accordance with ARP4761. Including (but not limited to): Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSAs), System Safety Assessments (SSAs)Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs), Common Mode Analyses (CMAs)</p></li><li><p>Support systems, hardware, and software engineering teams in defining system safety requirements during development activity</p></li><li><p>Review of design and development documentation for safety critical equipment</p></li><li><p>Review analysis of peer safety engineers</p></li><li><p>Mentor and train less experienced safety engineers</p></li><li><p>Accountable to team members and organizational leadership for committed work and responsibilities</p></li><li><p>Develop and maintain expertise in assigned areas (program, function, process, technology, etc)</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and organizational leaders to develop plans</p></li><li><p>Be a recognized technical expert in avionics safety</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>What You Will Learn:</b></p><ul><li><p>Work with advanced avionics technologies used across regional jets, business aircraft, and commercial transports<br/>Shape safety and reliability strategies early in the design process—where your insights have maximum impact</p></li><li><p>Collaborate across engineering disciplines and with global teams, contributing to solutions that directly affect product performance and customer confidence</p></li><li><p>Become part of a highly skilled group of safety engineers known for deep expertise in Reliability, Maintainability, and System Safety</p></li><li><p>Grow in a field that is challenging, unique, and constantly evolving with new aircraft architectures, regulatory expectations, and technological innovations</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Qualifications You Must Have:</b></p><ul><li><p>Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience</p></li><li><p>Experience in aircraft systems, hardware, or software engineering</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Qualifications We Prefer:</b></p><ul><li><p>Experience with CAFTA or similar Fault Tree analysis tools</p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of ARP4761</p></li><li><p>Basic knowledge of ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-178B/C, DO-297</p></li><li><p>Experience preparing and presenting technical information to peers, to all levels of internal management, and to external customers</p></li><li><p>Verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and presenting to peers, leadership, and customers</p></li><li><p>Experience coordinating projects and complex engineering activities</p
