The Area HR Business Partner (HRBP) for the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) region – Hospitality serves as a strategic and operational partner to hotel, resort, and hospitality leaders across Remington Hospitality’s expanding international portfolio. Remington Hospitality currently manages 105 hotels in the USA and CALA and is actively growing globally as part of its long‑term development strategy.
Remington’s footprint in the CALA region has expanded significantly in recent years. As of early 2025, the company operates eight hotels across the Caribbean and Latin America, with growth including properties in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Belize, Grand Cayman, the Dominican Republic, and Peru. With additional hotels in development and continued owner demand in major resort and urban markets, Remington expects continued expansion throughout the CALA region.
As Remington strengthens its presence across this diverse and fast-growing region, the CALA Area HR Business Partner plays a pivotal role in building people strategies, supporting complex operations, and ensuring alignment with Remington’s culture and service standards. This role supports a large, multicultural, and front-line heavy workforce and requires deep expertise in CALA labor laws, union environments, and hospitality employment practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with General Managers, Operations Leaders, and Regional Leadership to deliver HR strategies aligned with hospitality business objectives
- Serve as the primary HR advisor for multi-property operations across the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) region
- Provide expert-level guidance on CALA labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, and local employment regulations
- Lead the development, standardization, and ongoing management of HR policies, procedures, and SOPs across CALA properties
- Develop, localize, and maintain employee handbooks addendums for CALA countries, ensuring alignment with brand standards, local labor laws, and cultural norms
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Regional HR and Operations Leadership to review and update policies in response to regulatory or operational changes
- Lead complex employee relations matters, including investigations, grievances, resolutions, disciplinary actions, and terminations for frontline and leadership roles
- Support high-volume recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning for seasonal and high-turnover environments
- Drive performance management, succession planning, and leadership development for hotel and resort leadership teams
- Support union relationships and negotiations where applicable
- Lead change management initiatives related to openings, renovations, restructures, and operational transformations
- Ensure consistent application of brand HR policies while adapting to local legal and cultural requirements
- Conduct regular property visits to maintain strong visibility and relationships with on-site leadership teams
- Support hotels and resorts across CALA with payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission
- Partner with property‑level Finance, HR, and Corporate Payroll teams to ensure smooth payroll operations
- Assist in evaluating, selecting, and implementing payroll vendors appropriate for each CALA country
- Ensure proper setup of country‑specific pay rules, overtime regulations, and benefits deductions
- Review payroll reports for accuracy and compliance with local labor laws and collective agreements
- Help develop consistent payroll procedures and SOPs across newly added or transitioning hotels
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Work Experience: 5-8+ years of progressive HR experience, with significant experience in hospitality, hotels, resorts, or multi-site service environments
- Labor Laws (Required): Extensive and proven expertise in Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) labor laws and employment practices (required)
