SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance & Construction Supervisor and performs maintenance service and repairs in the areas of flooring, carpentry, plastering, painting, appliance repair, landscaping, and snow plowing. The Technician is familiar with a variety of maintenance and repair practices and procedures and is proficient in the use of related tools and equipment. Required skills to be successful in this position include: familiarity with and the ability to execute a variety of repair and maintenance practices and procedures, experience and good judgment to plan and accomplish goals, good organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. This position will be compensated on an hourly basis.


Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8a-4p (travel required)

Pay Rate: $22 - $24 per hour. 

Company Vehicle provided for work use only. Company Cell Phone and Laptop provided.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Knowledgeable in maintenance procedures and safety measures.

· Performs a variety of routine to semi-skilled building maintenance and repair work at assigned locations

· Assists as directed in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems, such as plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical as assigned.

· Installs, repairs, or replaces appliances (e.g. refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, clothes dryers, etc.).

· Removes, replaces, and repairs plumbing fixtures, faucets, toilets, valves, washers and gaskets as necessary. Performs routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals.

· Repair and replacement of damaged flooring and ceramic tiles to include grouting, caulking, and sealing of tile.

· Prepares and paints walls, ceilings, woodwork, and other surfaces or performs other types of refinishing as needed; patches holes in walls.

· Replaces broken windows; repairs doors, door locks and closets; installs window blinds and curtain rods.

· Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.

· Performs routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assists in repairing ballast and light fixtures.

· Assembles and moves furniture and performs minor repairs.

· May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders approved parts and supplies as needed through Agency authorized vendors.

· Provides landscaping as requested

· Provides snow removal as requested

· Cleans and maintains tools and equipment in a safe and proper working condition.

· Maintains routine records related to maintenance and repair activities including but not limited to: job orders, asset and inventory tracking, expense reports, detailed receipts and invoices.

· Loads and transports equipment, machinery, supplies, materials and a variety of other articles in agency provided vehicle.

· Operates agency provided vehicle to travel to various sites and ensures any needed maintenance of vehicle is reported to the Transportation Director

· Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.

· Attendance and participation in Facilities Department meetings.

· Provide assistance to the Construction and Maintenance Supervisor on ways to improve current systems.

· Observe and report to supervisor the need for repairs beyond the scope of this classification.

· Other job-related duties as assigned.


Maintenance staff may be assigned more specific responsibilities which may include but are not limited to:

  • Plumbing, ceramic tile, electrical, heating and air conditioning

Education and Experience

  • 2 - 4 years of work experience in the field of facility maintenance or a related area.
  • Must be 21+ years old, have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, daily use of a car on site and be available by telephone for daily contact.
