Job Description:
As a collaborative member of the Child Find Assessment Department, completes a variety of assessment events in a multidisciplinary play-based model. Develop and promote good community relations among various district and community clientele.MINIMUM EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:
Graduate degree or higher in the field of Early Childhood Special Education Specialist. (An endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education alone is not sufficient)
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is generally performed in a typical educational office or classroom environment with standard desks, equipment, fluorescent lighting and a moderate noise level
- Occasional lifting up to ten (10) pounds
- Frequent sitting, with occasional bending, reaching, and standing
- Frequent use of hands, keyboarding, and writing
- Vision, auditory, and mental acuity within normal ranges
Position Specific Information (if Applicable):
Responsibilities:
Demonstrate knowledge and skill regarding the components of effective instruction and intervention, Response to Intervention (RtI) / Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and the developmental needs of early childhood aged children (Birth through age 8).
Generate comprehensive evaluation reports.
Collaborate with families, community agencies, and other district departments and staff to determine eligibility for students for Special Education Services.
Collaborate with families, community agencies and other district departments and staff to develop compliant IEPs.
Attend and facilitate IEP meetings.
Communicate assessment results effectively to all key stakeholders.
Participate in Part C to B transition conferences.
Facilitate successful transitions into programming.
May be required to travel within district boundaries.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Complete screenings and evaluations in the area of child development for children aged 2.6 through 6 in a multidisciplinary, play-based model.
