ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Machine Operation and Monitoring:
- Set up, operate, and monitor extrusion machines to produce products according to specifications.
- Adjust machine parameters like temperature, pressure, and feed rate to optimize product quality.
- Identify and troubleshoot any malfunctions or deviations from standard production.
- Quality Control:
- Regularly inspect extruded products for quality defects like dimension variations, surface imperfections, and color consistency.
- Perform necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards.
- Conduct quality checks and document results per company procedures.
- Team Leadership:
- Train and mentor co-workers on proper machine operation and safety procedures.
- Assign tasks to team members based on production needs.
- Monitor team performance and address any operational issues.
- Maintenance and Housekeeping:
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks on extrusion equipment to prevent breakdowns.
- Identify and report any necessary repairs or replacements to maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Production Planning and Reporting:
- Collaborate with production planning to ensure materials and production schedules are met.
- Track production metrics and generate reports on efficiency, scrap rates, and quality.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical Skills: Thorough understanding of extrusion processes, machine operation, and quality control principles preferred.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve production issues quickly and effectively.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of operators.
- Attention to Detail: High level of focus on maintaining product quality and consistency.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Understanding of basic mechanical concepts and ability to perform minor repairs.
PHYSICAL, AUDITORY, DEXTERITY, AND VISUAL DEMANDS
Physical Exertion: 100% of the day, i.e. when sitting (5%), standing (20%), and walking (40%) while conducting work activities; lifting (10%) more than 25lbs, climbing stairs and ladders (10%); pushing and pulling (10%) more than 25lbs; and while sweeping/mopping (5%)
Auditory Concentration: Not applicable
Dexterity Requirements: 40% of the day, i.e. when writing and recording production reports; cutting fabric; using small hand tools such as utility knives, wrenches, and screwdrivers; sorting product; adjusting gauges; keyboarding/typing on the machine's computer, filing plant orders and quality reports; and when operating machinery such as the crane, pallet jack, conveyor, and shaft puller.
Visual Concentration: 100% of the day, i.e. when observing word and numbers on the computer screen; inspecting product and equipment; monitoring dials, gauges, and equipment; color matching; and when reading plant orders and schedules.
