What You Will Achieve
Pfizer's Clinical Pathology laboratory is a highly innovative, functional and integrated scientific discipline contributing to the advancement of the overall portfolio. As a member of the Toxicology team at Pfizer, your work will focus on the basic research relating to the life processes of plants, animals and human; research and development activities concerned with the chemical, biological and physical nature of food. Your work will involve the monitoring and evaluation of animal health as well as the cause and development of animal diseases and the changes caused by them.
As part of technical operations, you will be a team member who is relied to have a good understanding of procedures, techniques, tools, materials and equipment. Your decision making will help you prioritize workflows based on the available resources. You will follow standard procedures to complete tasks, some of which may vary in scope, sequence, complexity and timing. You will contribute to the team’s success by sharing your previously acquired knowledge.

How You Will Achieve It
Manage own time, professional development and be accountable for own results.
Execute necropsy/histology techniques directed by study protocols (regulatory, exploratory and investigative).
Perform all assigned routine necropsy and histology tasks in a timely manner and in agreement with the SOP and guidelines in place, from necropsy room preparation to archival of specimens.
Communicate with the pathologist and the pathology laboratory manager to ensure proper collection, handling and submission of specimens as well as proper handling of all supportive documentation, including chain of custody forms for outsourced work.
Read, understand and follow the study protocol and understand connection between study.
Ensure proper supplies and equipment are available and suitable for study conduct functions.
Ensure proper use and preventative maintenance of equipment and laboratory space.
Ensure full traceability of work and of the specimens.
Ensure work areas are kept clean and orderly.
Qualifications
- Minimum: 1 year applicable experience and Good Laboratory Practice proficiency; or 1 year A.S.; BS in Biological Sciences (or equivalent) with Good laboratory practice proficiency; or HT/HTL (ASCP) certification and Good Laboratory Practice proficiency.
- Preferred: ≥ 5 years of relevant experience in necropsy and/or histology study conduct experience, HT/HTL (ASCP) certification or eligible. A.S.; Biological Sciences (or equivalent) with ≥ 2 years of relevant necropsy and/or histology experience, HT (ASCP) certification or eligible. B.S.; Biological Sciences (or equivalent) with > 0-1 years of relevant necropsy and/or histology experience, HT (ASCP) certification or eligible.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- The position requires performing ex vivo work and therefore the colleagues must be able to wear appropriate PPE. They must be able to physically perform the technical procedures that may require lifting, sitting, standing, walking, and bending.
