About the role

Summary

The New Business Manager is responsible for control and oversight of the New Business team. This position works closely with team members and performs both a leadership and management function. This leader will oversee the work of others and be called upon to perform various tasks and initiatives to support the business unit. This individual will communicate with intermediaries and prepare and deliver periodic reports to management that demonstrate historical and current statistics, goals achieved or at risk and required staffing. The manager will have consistent communication with our TPA partner and will also support projects related to oversight and continuous improvement initiatives. Successful incumbent will partner closely with operational teams, product, compliance, marketing, third party administrator (TPA) and key vendor partners.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Manages the team responsibility allocations and task completion, problem identification and resolution and other day-to-day people management and leadership responsibilities. Fosters a positive work environment

• Participates in the development of team goals and ensuring that goals and action plans align with company objectives

• Partner with Third Party Administrator (TPA), team members, internal peers, sales agents, product distributors, heads of distribution, and company executives

• Provides technical expertise for cross functional projects to improve the business processes through automation and process redesign

• Provides reporting and tracking information to management on various metrics to provide data to management team. Identifies and provides analysis of trends and root cause to internal leaders and TPA partners

• Ensures quality analysis and reviews on completed work produced by team members to maintain high quality customer service, compliance with applicable regulations and consistent and accurate application of procedures throughout the team

• Maintains knowledge of and interprets current administrative guidelines and allows for exceptions when deemed necessary

• Ensures internal controls are documented and maintained within each department

• Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested in order to accomplish department and Company objectives

Education and/or Experience and Skills

• 5-7 years of experience in the annuity industry preferred with 3-5 years of management experience

• Prior experience working directly with a TPA provider

• Demonstrated knowledge of operations and process improvement along with strong business acumen and the ability to translate business plans into actionable solutions

• Knowledge of annuity products; fixed, indexed and variable

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, at all levels of the organization

• Ability to effectively interact/interface with external parties – TPA partners, customers, and vendors

• Utilize strong critical thinking skills in order to effectively problem solve

• Ability to work in a complex and innovative environment
