AM Shift Perimeter Guard

SUMMARY: Responsible for the protection, safeguarding and security of assets, employees, customers, and all visitors.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following: Other duties may be assigned.

• Investigates and writes reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations.
• Provides any needed assistance to customers, employees and visitors following the department's procedures.

• Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.
• Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; redirecting trespassers.
• Controls traffic by directing drivers.
• Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities, obtaining signatures.
• Contributes to team effort Enforces Daily’s badge procedures.
• Confirms all incoming/outgoing shipments with Shipping/receiving team.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other tasks as assigned.
• Performs vehicle checks as needed.
• Professional, frequent interaction with employees, contractors and delivery personnel is a must.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos preferred. Ability to write simple correspondence preferred.  Maintain effective working relationships with peers and management.  Bilingual skills preferred.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations preferred.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in all weather conditions.  Employee will have guard shack for shelter and will perform perimeter walks, fire walks through the facility as needed.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but sometimes very loud. In loud conditions guard will be expected to wear OSHA approved hearing protection and equipment.

 

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management.  Must be willing to work overtime and be flexible to cover occasionally weekends, holidays and 12-hour shifts.
