Job Description: The Lab Research Assistant for the Simmons lab in the Department of Biology supports the mission of Baylor University by genotyping mice and updating the lab animal data base. Enrollment in a STEM degree at a four-year college is required. Experience with genotyping/PCR preferred.
Perform laboratory research using molecular techniques (DNA extraction PCR amplification, gel electrophoresis, next-gen sequencing prep).
Keep accurate and current records of all results from experiments performed; document methods and processes.
Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining lab benches and equipment as well as general lab maintenance.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Provide lab/research support for assigned area of responsibility
- Assist with various projects, activities and tasks related to University laboratories and research
- Adhere to and ensure safety procedures and precautions are followed
- Ability to comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
