About The Position

The Senior Specialist, Digital Learning Resources is tasked with designing, developing and implementing interactive Library learning resources tailored for educational and research purposes. This role involves the collaborative development of reusable, purpose-built interactive objects, e-resources, website and multimedia resources to boost student engagement and support teaching, learning, and research initiatives. 

In addition to providing leadership and expert advice on learning design and future pedagogies to enhance educational practices and outcomes, the incumbent will execute innovative and effective digital learning resource projects. These projects will align with Library and University strategic priorities and adhere to university education principles. 

The Senior Specialist, Digital Learning Resources will work closely with subject matter experts to identify and negotiate learning concepts, objectives, and deliverables, transforming these into digital resources that achieve the desired outcomes. Additionally, this role may involve working on various projects and programs across the Library.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have: 

• Evidence of extensive experience in learning resource development and design, digital pedagogies and educational innovation

• Proven skills and experience in the use of innovative pedagogies to enhance student outcomes and staff practice

• Advanced knowledge of digital learning principles and practices, as well as current and future trends in digital learning technologies

• Proven technical skills including sound knowledge of User Interface/User Experience Design aesthetics, web development, and ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts.  

• Experience with the production of digital learning resources that include but are not limited to the use of web, video and multimedia production techniques.

• Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work as part of a team whilst managing competing workflows and deadlines in a dynamic and complex environment

• Highly developed analytical and synthesis skills, including the ability to make independent judgements and solve problems within a complex environment

• Demonstrated ability to negotiate with and influence stakeholders to enable evidence-based outcomes in design and management of digital learning resources

• Demonstrated outstanding problem solving and critical thinking ability and flexibility to adapt work practices and models according to need

At RMIT Melbourne, the University Library operates from 4 different locations: the Swanston Library; the Bundoora Library; the Carlton Library and Brunswick Library and manages a Makerspace on the city campus.  At RMIT Vietnam, the Library supports over
