TAX & ROYALTY ACCOUNTANT

Job Summary

The Tax and Royalty accountant is responsible for reporting and paying State Severance and/or State Royalties.

Essential Job Functions

• Accurately and timely report taxes/royalties to agencies.
• Monitor and report prior period adjustments as needed.
• Communicate with internal departments and outside agencies to resolve compliance issues (Division Order, Revenue, Land, Production, State agencies).
• Prepare account reconciliations for regulatory accounts.
• Prepare Journal Entries
• Respond to tax and royalty related inquiries.
• Maximize and capture tax savings through application and processing of available incentives.
• Keep up to date with state guidelines, rates, and incentives.

Minimum Education/Qualification Guidelines

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Computer Proficiencies: SAP PRA and Microsoft Office applications (Excel) a plus.
• Previous Severance Tax, Royalty, or Revenue experience a plus
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
• Experience working with and meeting strict deadlines.
