About the role

Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Nursing the Outpatient Registered Nurse is responsible for scheduling admission and discharging of outpatients, nursing education groups along with any and all physician order and direct patient medical care.

 

Clinical

 

  • Gather’s admission/discharge orders for patients in the outpatient program
  • Able to answer inquiries regarding admission and facilitate process (pre-certs).
  • Complete initial authorizations for new admissions.
  • Reconcile patient’s current medications at admission and reports active medications to attending physician
  • Call in prescriptions for new or updated medications
  • Completes weekly nursing assessments/progress note in a timely manner and indicates potential problems.  
  • Communicates with patient/family regarding care plan and outcome goals; involves patient/family in developing plan of care and accomplishing outcome goals and/or consistently attends and actively participates in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Communicates pertinent information to peers and physicians and acts as a patient advocate.
  • Anticipates patient needs and makes appropriate suggestions regarding treatment.
  • Communicates and documents teaching and discharge planning.
  • Accurately takes physician (verbal or telephonically) orders and documents appropriately.
  • Accurately and legibly documents nursing intervention and expected outcomes, noting patient response, effectiveness of intervention and complications.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide safe care to all patients.
  • Adheres to HIPAA and other confidentiality guidelines.
  • Utilizes standard precautions and follows infection control procedures.
  • Adheres to and follows The Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Aware of patient handbook/contents. Adheres to program rules.
  • Able to give thorough report to oncoming staff, supervisees, and physician.
  • Maintain unit safety in regards to contraband.
  • Aware of specific shift duties+
  • Able to complete initial and concurrent utilize review for patients in daytime and evening programing.

Hourly pay: $47
