About the role
Position Summary
The Senior IRB Administrator plays an integral role in the Human Research Protection Program’s (HRPP) successful fulfillment of its responsibility to support and manage NYU’s Institutional Review Board (IRB). The incumbent will conduct exempt, expedited, and convened IRB reviews (~600/year) in fulfillment of the IRB’s responsibilities in complying with federal and state regulations and institutional requirements and promoting the protection of research subjects; serve as a liaison among the HRPP, investigators, department administrators, IRB, and other university units (Office of Sponsored Programs, Office of Conflict of Interest, etc.); and support HRPP leadership in the development of guidance, procedures, and other supporting materials. The incumbent will have expertise in federal and state regulations governing human subjects research and direct experience supporting an IRB.Qualifications
Required Education:Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's Degree Preferred Education:Master's Degree Master's degree in health/social science or ethics/philosophy or Juris Doctor degree Required Experience:7+ years 3 years direct experience in IRB/HRPP operations or 5 years combined experience in IRB/HRPP operations and research administration/conduct/ethics Preferred Experience:5+ years 5 years Direct experience in IRB/HRPP operations Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Expert knowledge of human subjects protections regulations (e.g., Common Rule, FERPA, GDPR, HIPPA) and best practices. Ability to independently conduct exempt/expedited IRB reviews. Ability to clearly and effectively advise researchers and IRB members and to work collaboratively with human research compliance staff. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice principles and ability to conduct post-approval monitoring. Familiarity with human subjects management systems (e.g., CAYUSE Human Ethics)Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $105,000.00 to USD $125,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
