The Department of Art at St. Mary’s College of Maryland is accepting applications for the one-year position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History and Acting Director of the Boyden Gallery and Fine Art Collection, beginning August 1st, 2024. This position is a one-year position with possibility of renewal.  Teaching responsibilities will include Survey of Art History I and II and topics courses in Art History.  All professors at St. Mary’s are expected to contribute to the college-wide Learning Through Experiential and Applied Discovery (LEAD) curriculum as well as to their departmental curriculum. As Acting Director of the Boyden Gallery and Fine Art Collection (the Acting Director) has overall responsibility for all aspects of gallery operations, including, but not limited to, exhibitions and interpretation; campus and community outreach; supervision of professional staff, student interns and employees; and management of gallery facilities and resources.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Art History or related field and be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching. 
• An interest in attracting and retaining students from underrepresented groups is desirable.
• The successful candidate must produce the necessary documentation to legally work in the U.S. upon hire.
