The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry’s rapidly changing workforce needs by providing local San Antonio high school and college students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to do things, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used.

Position Summary
Energy Portfolio Analytics intern requires a blend of analytical skills, industry knowledge & eagerness to learn and adapt to evolving energy market analytics, to support a wide variety of analytical approaches as needed. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work across Market Analytics, Demand Side Analytics and Supply Side Analytics, gaining valuable insights into the multifaceted world of Energy Portfolio Analytics
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Market Analytics:
- Collaborate with our market analysts to monitor energy market trends, including pricing, supply, and demand dynamics.
- Assist in data collection, analysis, and reporting to support market risk assessment
- Support research to identify emerging opportunities and threats within the energy market
• Demand Side Analytics:
- Work on projects focused on analyzing customer energy consumption patterns.
- Utilize data analytics tools to identify demand-side management opportunities and energy efficiency improvements.
• Supply Side Analytics:
- Contribute to the evaluation of our energy generation assets, including renewable and conventional sources.
- Analyze performance data and identify areas for operational improvement and cost optimization
• Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collect, clean, and analyze data from various sources to derive actionable insights.
- Prepare reports and visualizations to communicate findings effectively to the team
- Support the development of predictive models and analytical tools for decision-making
• Perform other special assignments and projects as assigned.
Minimum Skills
Personal Computer UsageMinimum Knowledge and Abilities
