The Role
Job Title: Event Manager
Length: 12 months
Estimated Start: December 2nd
On-site: Washington, D.C.
Travel: 2-3 times a year
Brainrider is looking for an Event Manager to join our client-embedded team. You will be a part of our client's Employee Experience team supporting them in cultivating connections between employees across a multi-building campus, including various events and programs that support their work in building internal community.
You are highly organized, a team player and have excellent communication skills; you have strong time management skills, attention to detail, a learning mindset, and an ability to multi-task across concurrent priority projects. You'll work across various business areas and support general administrative tasks required (ie. purchase orders, vendor management, statement of work creation). You're comfortable assessing and understanding the work of supporting the site, and use strong judgment for problem-solving.
This role is located in Washington, DC - this role is in-person and not eligible for remote work.
What you'll do
- Works as part of the Employee Experience team to develop & execute a calendar of site wide events, including meetups, all hands and other company-wide programs across multiple buildings
- Creates communications, marketing materials, digital assets etc. for various events & programs
- Supports planning, logistics, and execution for local events in line with approved budget and in coordination with Employee Experience team
- Supports coordination & execution of local office welcome and new hire experience
- Collects feedback from attendees, hosts event debriefs, and compiles data on events to inform future planning efforts
- Supports event committees and programming, leveraging employees who wish to participate in planning efforts for community building events, by assigning tasks and ensuring completion
- Maintains and updates the DC wiki and microsite to ensure site resources are up to date and relevant
- Manages purchase orders, vendor on-boarding, and statement of work creation (as well as other finance processes) in partnership with Finance
What you'll bring
- 3+ years of experience in event planning for organizations in the tech industry or startup environment
- Comfortable managing multiple projects at the same time
- Experience managing and working within specified budgets, budget management and financial planning
- Experience using and building out data to solve problems
- Experience with venues, activities, and events resources
- Knowledge of engineering and tech teams, with ability to tailor community-building initiatives to their needs and interests
- Proven experience building cross-functional relationships between various support partners and collaboration as part of a cross-regional team
- Comfortable working through ambiguity and uncertainty
- Experience in using Microsoft Office Programs, Keynote, Outlook, Google Suite
- Strong technical skills to utilize internal Event and Registration Tools (e.g. Splash)
