The Principal Security Managed Services Engineer is a highly skilled engineering role, responsible for creating and maintaining the Security Infrastructure of managed service to clients.This role is a key technical leader responsible for designing, implementing and managing highly complex security solutions for clients.
As a subject matter expert with extensive expertise in security technologies and managed services, this role acts as a consultant in the field ensuring highly complex contracted Managed Services outcomes are delivered to the client.
The Principal Security Managed Services Engineer guides other engineers within the team and collaborate with cross-functional teams and serve as a subject matter expert in security solutions.
This is a strategic role which focuses on improving the existing infrastructure with the next gen Firewall, Zero Trust Security architecture and providing guidance through IP on architecture / project related activities and may also contribute to / support on project work as and when required.
What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities:
- Creates and maintains the security Infrastructure of managed service to clients.
- Provides highly technical or sophisticated in nature support across security technologies/security solutions.
- Provides consultancy support where fourth-line engineer teams were unable to resolve the problem.
- Shares such knowledge, to resolve issues, documents them, and pushes the knowledge down to other engineers.
- Acts as emergency support contact as needed, for critical client and business-impacting issues
- Communicates with other teams and clients for extending support.
- Leads the design and architecture of managed security solutions for clients, considering their unique requirements and business objectives.
- Oversees the implementation of security solutions, including security design, configuration, and deployment and ensures adherence to best practices and industry standards.
- Monitors and optimizes the performance of clients' security infrastructures, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
- Implements and maintains security measures, ensuring compliance with relevant industry regulations and data protection standards.
- Leads the troubleshooting and resolution of highly complex security-related incidents and problems and provides technical expertise and guidance to resolve critical issues.
- Continuously identifies opportunities to improve performance, security, and service delivery, driving process enhancements and technological advancements.
- Creates and maintains comprehensive technical documentation, including security diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Develops scripts and automation solutions, streamlining security operations, and enhancing efficiency.
- Plays a pivotal role in deploying and managing security solutions, integrating automation tools, and driving innovation to meet the evolving needs of clients.
- May manage and implement projects within technology domain, delivering effectively and promptly per client agreed upon requirements and timelines.
- May work on implementing and delivering Disaster Recovery functions and tests.
- Performs any other related task as required.
Knowledge and Attributes:
- Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to identify complex security issues, brainstorm potential solutions and choose the best way to resolve an issue.
- In-depth knowledge of security technologies and understanding of managed services concepts.
- Excellent knowledge of security monitoring and management tools for performance optimization and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrates leadership skills, with effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Project management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Excellent scripting/programming skills.
- Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Perl, or Ruby, and experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
Academic Qualifications and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in IT/Computing (or demonstrated equivalent work experience).
- CCNP or PCNSE in Security / CCIE / CISSP / Automation certi
