DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International is seeking an experienced Architectural Historian to join the team in our Moon Township, Pennsylvania office. Under the supervision of the Historic Preservation Department Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Coordinate and conduct reconnaissance or intensive-level surveys of historic-age, above-ground properties
- Perform literature reviews and archival research
- Assess National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility of surveyed properties
- Prepare all compliance studies required under Section 106/110 of the National Historic Preservation Act or parallel state laws
- Prepare NRHP nominations
- Support historic preservation staff in preparing other historic preservation deliverables
- Serve as Task Manager or Project Manager on specific projects
- Review project documents
- Supervise junior staff, casual/part-time employees, and interns
- Assist in preparing department policy and procedures for conducting historic resources investigations
- Preparing agreement documents for the resolution of adverse effects on historic properties, including providing input for the development of creative mitigation options
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- M.A./M.S. in History, Historic Preservation, Architectural History, or closely related discipline; or B.A./B.S. with previous experience in cultural resources management or closely related field
- 5+ year of related experience
- Proven experience in cultural resources management or related field
- Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications for Historian or Architectural Historian
- Ability to work as part of a team or individually as necessary, and take direction to the satisfaction of Management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
- Possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to project locations in multiple states upon short notice
- Proficiency in software programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat; CADD/GIS is desirable
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position $75,095 - $108,432 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
