About the role

Job Summary: As a Project Specialist I in Security and Life Safety at Bosch Building Technologies, you will be responsible for the end-to-end technical execution of fire alarm and special systems, ranging from initial database programming and system commissioning to troubleshooting and final project turnover. Leveraging your 3+ years of industry experience and Texas TOPS licensing, you will serve as a technical anchor on-site, supporting field personnel, ensuring code compliance, and collaborating with sales and design teams to deliver high-quality life safety solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Controls or Special Systems database, graphics, programming, etc. for sequences as provided by the Design Specialist, project specifications, or other applicable sources.
  • Provide accurate controls of special systems start-up and commissioning including point-to-point checkout on projects as assigned. Verify correct alarm, annunciation, and other actions by equipment, devices, panels, and annunciators of Special Systems and Controls projects.
  • Support installation personnel on project sites.
  • Provide information and support for other contractors on project site.
  • Debug installation issues during both the static and dynamic start up and commissioning of building controls and special systems.
  • Provide support to Bosch Building Technologies and other contractors to solve building operating issues that go beyond the controls or special systems operation.
  • Provide input to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, installation, start up, commissioning, and training for building systems.
  • Provide start up documentation including daily logs, check out logs, commissioning documents, etc. as required for assigned projects.
  • Ensure timely software backups are created for projects and software development.
  • Provide service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building occupancy codes.
  • Provide service support on existing systems ensuring their proper and efficient operation as well as providing ongoing support to the facility’s building engineers.
  • Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist in preparing of as-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
  • Assist in turnover of projects from Operations Team to Service Team.
  • Assist Sales team during estimating phase including potential product or system demonstrations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3+ years’ experience actively working in the Fire Alarm or Security and Life Safety Industry or related industries.
  • 3+ years’ experience of performing point-to-point checkout and functional testing of fire alarm control panels (FACP) and peripheral devices.
  • 3+ years’ experience of progressive experience working with system installations, commissioning, or field technical support.
  • Intermediate knowledge of NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) and local fire codes to ensure all installations meet existing building occupancy requirements.
  • Must possess a current Texas TOPS Security Alarm License and a Texas TOPS Access Control License at the time of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ progressive experience working in the Fire Alarm or Security and Life Safety Industry or related industries working with systems integrations.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Special Systems Programming, including the development of custom database sequences and graphics for systems such as Notifier, Bosch, or Edwards (EST).
  • 3+ years’ experience assisting the sales and design teams with at least 5-10 project estimates including performing site surveys and technical product demonstrations for potential and current clients.
  • 3+ years’ experience integrating fire alarm systems with other building controls such as HVAC smoke dampers, elevator recall, and mass notification systems.
  • 1-2 years’ experience leading teams or acting as a lead technician or specialist by providing direct on-site
