Job Summary:The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a Water-Wastewater Facility Operator II to oversee operations at the Arizona State Prison Complex – Yuma. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment, distribution, and wastewater collection systems, ensuring the delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient utility services. Key duties include water sampling and analysis, equipment maintenance and repair, scheduling preventive maintenance, and supervising subordinate operators and inmate work crews.

-Analyze treated water samples and monitor contaminated levels
-Monitor and test alarm systems
-Maintenance and repair of potable water systems, tanks, motors, compressors, and other related equipment
-Maintains logs and documents test results and distributes to the proper individuals/entities
-Conducts/schedules preventative maintenance
-Maintain the emergency power supply to ensure water and sewage processing during power failures as required
-Rebuilds motors, pumps, and pipelines
-Clear debris and flush sand traps
-Maintains access roads within water/wastewater systems
-Assist in overseeing the management, collections, treatment, and distribution of water resources
-Gather information including reservoir levels, water released and diverted, snow depth information, and system activities
-Maintains required documentation related to hazardous materials
-Develops reports, prepares cost estimates and projections related to water/wastewater collections, treatments, and distributions
-Inspects, maintains, and repairs tools and equipment to ensure proper working order and accountability
-Provides supervision to subordinate operators and inmate work crews
-Drives on State business
-Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge of:
-Principles and techniques of operating and maintaining a reservoir water system, including reservoir management and intake structures
-Plant operations, safety, and laboratory procedures
-Principles and practices of surveying water sources and surface storage
-Operation of water distribution systems, maintenance, disinfections, and safety
-Computer logging and graphing methods related to water treatment and distribution
-Federal and state rules and regulations regarding water quality treatment and reporting requirements
-Practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in sewage plant operation and maintenance
-Physical, biological, and chemical aspects of wastewater treatment
Skill in:
-Written and verbal communication
-Reading and comprehension of administrative policy, regulatory laws, and procedures
-Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematic drawings
-Using a computer to enter/retrieve data
-Estimating costs and ordering materials
-Organization and time management
-Collecting field data to prepare maintenance logs and reports
Ability to:
