Job Summary:
This position serves to organize and manage administrative support for the following federal- state- or institutionally- mandated Radiation Safety Committees under the auspices of EHS for research regulatory compliance:
Radioactive Drug Research Committee (RDRC) – Federally mandated under the FDA, the Committee reviews all research involving radioactive drug use in human subjects, concurrent with the Colorado Multiple Institutional Review Board (COMIRB). The RDRC research review is performed in accordance with mandated federal regulations.
Committee on Ionizing Radiation (CIR) – The CIR provides oversight of the entire Radiation Safety Program, reviews and approves all non-human research involving radioactive materials and radiation-producing machines on behalf of the University.
Committee on Ionizing Radiation for Human Use (HuCIR) – The HuCIR reviews and approves all human research involving use of radioactive materials and radiation-producing machines.
Laser Safety Committee (LSC) – The LSC reviews and approves all research and clinical applications of Class 3B and Class 4 lasers on behalf of the University.
Any other committees and subcommittees as deemed appropriate by EHS management.
In addition to the above, this position also serves to provide the following administrative support to the Radiation Safety Division of EHS:
Managing Radiation Safety training – This includes following up on overdue training, responding to online course access questions, handling any training history corrections, and scheduling researchers for in-person training.
Managing Radiation Safety Dosimetry program – This includes processing new and cancellation requests, saving dose reports, creating new dosimetry groups when needed, sending out annual Form 5s, and tracking down late or missing dosimetry.
General Radiation Safety Invoicing – Send out instrument calibration invoices as needed, quarterly UCH invoicing (instruments and waste), and vendor invoicing/billing as needed.
Website Management – Manage Radiation Safety page of EHS website and keep up to date with current contact information and documents
Radiation Safety Reports – Run various reports (Instrument calibration, sealed source inventory, audits, etc.) at required frequencies to assist Radiation Safety team in maintaining compliance.
Any other administrative duties related to the radiation safety program as deemed appropriate by Radiation Safety and EHS management.
