Job Description Summary
The Senior Core Monitoring Software Engineer is responsible for driving the technical strategy, software delivery, and operational excellence of our Core Monitoring product line. This role acts as a primary bridge between technical development and product strategy. You will lead, mentor, and elevate team members in their customer support and product management activities, ensuring the team functions as a cohesive, high-performing unit. You will hold accountability for the full product lifecycle, directing the team to manage the balance between feature innovation, defect remediation, and technical debt, while ensuring deep alignment with stakeholders including Customers, Product Managers, and Engineering Leadership.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor team members in advanced customer support, effective product requirement gathering, and technical problem-solving. Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee the provision of mission-critical support to operating Nuclear Power Plants. Establish protocols for on-call support and ensure the team maintains high responsiveness and system reliability for customer generation facilities.
- Strategic Product Direction: Serve as the technical authority for Core Monitoring System feature planning and roadmap development. Drive market competitiveness by synthesizing industry trends with technical feasibility.
- Stakeholder & Customer Advocacy: Lead VOC (Voice of Customer) initiatives. Own the strategy for stakeholder interviews and persona elaboration, ensuring the team acts on synthesized, high-value insights.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Orchestrate collaboration between Software Engineering, Architecture, and Engineering departments. Lead complex projects, including infrastructure migrations and large-scale virtualization efforts, ensuring alignment across the organization.
- Process & Quality Stewardship: Partner with Engineering Leadership to design and maintain healthy, scalable development processes. Facilitate high-level technical discussions and oversee the quality of design decisions and story acceptance.
- Influence & Alignment: Act as a key influencer in decision-making forums, ensuring alignment between customer needs, product management goals, and engineering constraints.
- Ambiguity Management: Provide strategic guidance on complex problem decomposition, empowering the team to navigate high-stakes technical and business challenges.
Education Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in Nuclear Operations, Reactor Engineering, and/or Core Monitoring Software.

Software Monitoring Software Support and Product Management
- Support: At least 3 years of demonstrated customer support for software systems.
- Software Product Management: At least 3 years of demonstrated product management.
Technical Leadership & Expertise
- Mentorship: Proven track record of developing junior-to-mid-level engineers and fostering growth in technical and product management skill sets.
- System Architecture: Deep understanding of the technology stack, with the ability to lead the team through architectural decisions regarding scalability, security, and data integrity.
- Operational Readiness: Expertise in translating operational nuclear requirements into robust software solutions.
