Summary
A Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for supporting medical staff in administering care to residents with various injuries, illnesses or disabilities. The position requires patience, compassion, and a desire to care for the elderly in a gentle and empathetic manner.
This position is a hybrid position- ideal candidate will work 2 days a week as a CNA and 3 days a week as an Activities Assistant.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Provides supportive services to nurse(s) and other staff as needed and performs duties as assigned.
- Assists resident with or performs activities of daily living for resident in accordance with care plans and established policies and procedures.
- Assists resident with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
- Coordinates dining room services at assigned mealtimes, including set-up and clean-up, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of meal intake.
- Delivers nutritional supplements to residents at assigned times and provides assistance as necessary to ensure intake. Documents intake accordingly.
- Assists with weighing residents according to facility policy, and records weight in designated locations. Reports weight changes to nurse and supervisor.
- Assists with tracking the condition of the resident’s skin. Reports any presence of pressure areas, skin breakdown or skin tears to nurse and supervisor.
- Assists nursing staff in carrying out toileting program activities.
- Completes flow sheets daily to indicate that the specified task was done. Documents the progress of each resident as directed by supervisor.
- Keeps nurse and supervisor informed of factors that interfere with being able to perform the work as assigned (i.e., resident refusal, reassigned to nursing unit).
- Reports changes in a resident’s condition to the resident’s nurse and supervisor.
- As an Activities Assistant, they will :
- Work with the Life Enrichment Director to implement programs that support the interests, purposes and social needs of residents.
- Actively implements life enrichment programs as planned and assigned to meet the functional levels, needs and interests of each Resident.
- Honors the individual needs and preferences of residents and communicates well changes, requests and interests of residents with the Director of Life Enrichment.
- Assists Residents to and from life enrichment programs and outing as scheduled.
- Maintains good rapport with family members and encourages family support in programs.
- Assists residents during meals and snacks encouraging an atmosphere of socialization.
- Completes appropriate records indicating Resident’s attendance and participation in individual and group activities in a timely basis.
- Provides input to the assessment and evaluation of Residents participation when requested.
- Communicates Resident’s concerns and responses to interventions to immediate supervisor.
- Supports Residents individual needs, and preferences, customary routines, concerns and choices.
- Assist and works with individual volunteers and volunteer programs at the request of the Life enrichment Director.
- Assists residents with ADL needs that arise during planned activities such as toileting or eating/drinking.
- Participates in long term care survey process, regulatory, and accreditation.
