Clinical Research Coordinator I - Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Institute

The primary goal of BioMedical Engineering and Imaging Institute is to develop unique approaches to biomedical sciences and therapeutic interventions by bridging basic and translational research and education by leveraging expertise in medicine and engineering. Specific focus areas include medical imaging, nanomedicine, artificial intelligence, sensor technologies, next generation medical devices, robotics and computer vision.
Details of Research Project:
The Research Coordinator will play a key role in managing and coordinating the following studies:
- Identifying the Long-Term Neurological Effects of COVID-19 Using 7 Tesla Multi-Modal MRI
- Gut-Brain Alzheimer’s Disease 7T JIT Study
- Long COVID/ME/CFS MRI Study
- Liver glycogen imaging
- MRI technology development
These projects involve cutting-edge MRI techniques at 7 Tesla (7T) and 3 Tesla (3T), as well as collaborations with interdisciplinary teams to explore imaging biomarkers in neurological diseases and metabolic disorders through the application of novel MRI techniques.
- Participant recruitment, informed consent, and retention strategies for studies involving diverse populations, mainly those with neurological diseases and metabolic disorders.
- Administrative and regulatory coordination of studies, ensuring strict adherence to ethical and regulatory guidelines, including IRB submissions, modifications, and approvals.
- Design, implementation, and oversight of research protocols for advanced imaging studies, including MRI scan protocols at 7T and 3T, patient coordination, imaging and neuropsychological data collection and management, and quality control measures.
- Data analysis and report preparation utilizing specialized imaging software and statistical tools.
- Training, supervision, and mentorship of junior staff and research assistants to ensure protocol compliance and skill development.
- Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to biomedical research (examples are neuroscience, psychology, biostatistics, or clinical research).
- Proficiency in managing sensitive patient participant information (PHI) and utilizing statistical analysis software.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills to facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations and patient interactions.
Preferred Experience:
- Management of research protocols, including patient recruitment and data quality assurance.
- Management of IRB protocols, including modifications and progress reports.
- Management of complex projects involving interdisciplinary teams.
- Experience in REDCap and/or Epic.
Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project:
- Recruit and enroll human subjects to generate high-quality, reproducible data to advance the understanding of brain-behavior relationships and disease mechanisms.
- Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and conferences to disseminate the findings of this research.
- Contribute to the lab?s long-term goal of improving diagnostic and treatment methods for neurological diseases.
