Vice President, Sales

Overview:  Responsible for providing overall leadership, expertise, and strategic direction for the Sales Department for the property, comprised of promotions, public relations, social sales marketing, social media, catering and corporate conference sales.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a member of the property Senior Leadership Team, which includes strategic planning, resort leadership and community involvement.
  • Develops and oversees the execution of Sales strategies and activities enabling the property to achieve its budgeted room night and revenue goals.
  • Develops and implements the Sales business plans to achieve targets, including expense and labor budgets.
  • Establishes departmental goals and motivates the Sales team to achieve outlined goals.  Ensures that the team has the appropriate business tools to be successful.
  • Works with the Chief Operating Officer and Corporate Sales team members to coordinate the properties Sales activities.
  • Secures budgeted group and social room night targets and ADRs.
  • Studies industry trends to effectively anticipate/identify potential new markets or market shifts to remain competitive in promotions and group rates.
  • Develops and oversees the management of the annual sales budget including monitoring labor –to- revenue costs.
  • Works closely with Revenue Management Team and all outlets to ensure appropriate representation and message in the marketplace.
  • Ensures proper representation of the property is achieved at professional meetings, sales trade shows and other outside venues.
  • Establishes and ensures training and development opportunities are available to all team members.
  • Develops and manages the annual departmental Budget including providing monthly forecasts and analyzing variances and controlling expenses.
  • Works closely with Marketing that Company communications and promotional packages developed match business goals for the property.
  • Maintains a positive and fair work environment following Open Door Policy to minimize turnover with department employees.
  • Stays current with the trends and developments in the hospitality sales field.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Possess demonstrated visionary leadership skills and the ability to develop strategic plans.
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong presentation skills.
  • Possess the ability to develop interpersonal relationships with all levels of team members and clients.
  • Exhibits excellent listening and negotiation skills.
  • Possess knowledge and experience with hospitality sales and marketing.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce (Delphi.FDC) Opera or other sales reporting/tracking systems preferred.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
  • High School Diploma, required with a four year degree in Marketing, Sales, Business or Finance preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in hospitality Sales required.
  • Resort or 4-star property experience a plus.
  • Must remain flexible with schedule to accommodate business needs with the ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
