FLSA: Salaried, Non-Exempt JOB TITLE: Director of Maintenance & Infrastructure DEPARTMENT: Bus Maintenance REPORTS TO: Director of Operations JOB FUNCTION: Direct the daily operation of the Maintenance Department in a manner consistent with FTA requirements and regulations. Implement the maintenance strategy, work priorities and standards for the Maintenance Department as set by the Chief Operations Officer. Provide planning, organization, and maintenance of storeroom. Responsible for developing and facilitating training for all maintenance employees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages and organizes necessary activities, programs and objectives set by the Director of Bus Maintenance to meet and evaluate department goals. Oversee and direct the operation of the Maintenance department in the absence of the Director of Bus Maintenance.
- Implements and monitors procedures and work methods for the department and employees. Continuously monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures. Must understand, interpret, and implement Labor Agreement and work collaboratively in a union environment.
- Assists in implementing the Maintenance Department programs; including but not limited to preventative maintenance, training, and inventory. Writing equipment specifications, training curriculums, and inventory practices and procedures.
- Responsible for overseeing and directing the operation of the maintenance storeroom. Develop and implement processes and systems for the maintenance storeroom which will provide timely and accurate data in such areas as overall inventory, preventative maintenance, repair activities, parts inventory, warranties, and equipment depreciation/replacement.
- Develops and facilitates training curriculums for the maintenances department. Ensures that maintenance employees have and maintain all required certifications and licenses in accordance with company policies and state and federal regulations.
- Analyze daily and monthly reports of road calls and work assignments.
- Conduct vacation and holiday sign-ups for Maintenance Department employees.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related area. Overall experience may be considered in lieu of advanced education. Other: Minimum 8 years progressively responsible experience in Maintenance administration, including a minimum of 5 years management responsibility in a transit agency. Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of fleet management. Must possess effective oral and written skills and be experienced in labor/union matters. Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills. Must be proficient with personal computer and MS Office. Must have ability to do same work as those supervised and be able to assist if necessary. Must possess a Class A (“P” endorsement) Commercial Driver’s License. - Regular and consistent attendance is required.
- Extensive sitting is required while using office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, or fax machines.
- Some standing and walking during a normal workday will also be required as well as bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Most work will be performed in inside working conditions but should be able to tolerate changes in building environments such as with or without air conditioning or heating.
