General Summary

• The secretary functions as receptionist and performs clerical duties for the Breast Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Receives, greets patients and informs appropriate personnel of patient’s arrival and informs patients of possible delays.
• Performs clerical functions including typing, entering of charges and data into computer systems, etc. in a timely manner.
• Completes required forms accurately and timely.
• Maintains appearance of the office.
• Maintains professional growth and education and demonstrates professional behavior.
• Demonstrates age appropriate skills and abilities to communicate with patients.
• Actively participates in departmental CQI efforts and assumes responsibility for portions of quality control program.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Work Experience

• Office experience preferred.

Mental/Physical Requirements

• Close mental and visual attention required for sustained periods of time. Frequently works under stressful conditions due to demands of customers and the critical condition of some patients. Must be able to transport self throughout department. Standing, walking, sitting, carrying/lifting (up to 15 lbs.), turning, carrying, pushing, pulling and stooping.

Working Conditions

• Potential exposure to infectious diseases, disagreeable orders from patients, anesthetics, disinfectants, and/or chemicals. May be exposed to controlled radiation exposure.
