Here’s what you can expect on a typical day:
- Structure complex problems into clear, simple frameworks, enabling the business to operate with clarity and ownership. Frames the problems others can’t articulate.
- Manages a number for workstreams and/or development and delivery of large and complex deliverables
- Primary interface between functional teams like Alliances, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Business Operations, all Service, and is accountable for managing the overall "Program" or collection of Projects.
- Monitors the performance of the Project Team and its Project Managers/Project Leads and engage the manager/lead of a Project. All cross-functional and Business Unit Project and Product Managers will be aligned to the Program Manager in a matrixed-management structure during the engagement, for the purpose of achieving team-based goals.
- Acts as the primary contact for the Program to the enterprise and senior management with Global Alliance and Delivery support.
- Manages and provides communication to all levels of the organization, including overall project milestones, risk, scope and expectations, project integration, budget and staffing.
- Monitors performance of project team resources with respect to their assigned project activities.
- Organizes strategic projects and quarterly Steering Committee meetings
- Follows Program Management disciplines in the following areas: Scope Management, Schedule Management, Cost Management, Issue Management, Risk Management, Quality Management, Human Resource Management, Communication Management and Contract Management.
- Establishes, manages, and publishes a comprehensive overall project plan, including the development schedule, resource requirements, and integration efforts of third-party products when applicable
- Establishes project structure and staffing plans, and participates in staffing process, which may include selection of personnel from third party vendors.
- The Program Manager is ultimately responsible for obtaining approvals on Program scope changes, escalating critical path issues, and resolving team resource conflicts.
- Motivates and directs the project team; sets goals, objectives, and priorities; assigns and reviews project tasks and performance on a regular basis, benchmarking against key milestone deliverables. May be asked to provide input into the performance reviews of team members. Approves additions and deletions to staff over the life of the project.
- The Program Manager establishes comprehensive cross-functional written and verbal communications evaluating Program tasks, milestones, dependencies, issues, and escalations. This includes program meetings, minutes, executive briefings, and issue management tracking. Collaborates with cross-functional Product and Project Managers on all Program management deliverables.
- Acts as primary interface with the project sponsor(s) as well as the Product Manager. Ensures quality reviews are held with the project team and obtains sign off on status and requirements.
- Ensures that the methodology, processes, and tools are consistently used guided by best practices and the ADP NPS Center of Excellence.
