Occupational Summary
This contracted position will work in collaboration with the Education and Exhibits Departments at CDM to ensure authenticity and build excitement for the traveling exhibit, Namaste India. This will be accomplished by developing programs that promote the educational objectives of the exhibit and communicating with stakeholder groups that may have special interest in the exhibit. Museum audiences include General Admission guests, School groups, Camp and/or afterschool groups and others.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare CDM's exhibit space and staff
• Plan events and value-added programming to enhance the exhibit in coordination with CDM's Arts Specialist, including selecting materials and securing quotes from artists/presenters (materials, supplies, and artist fees will be paid through museum funds)
o Topics of interest may include
Language activities
Food-based activities
Cultural and faith-based customs
Recreational and domestic art forms, popular athletics
Arts associated with the country represented
Activities representing daily life and/or dress
• Serve as contact person for community members on the day of the events at CDM
• Contribute personal or borrowed artifacts to CDM temporary display cases
• Equip CDM staff to interpret the exhibit through personal storytelling and first-hand sharing
• Train CDM guest-facing staff to communicate in and about the exhibit
Interface with the public about the exhibit
• Recruit volunteers and paid artists from the Indian community (locally and regionally) to present programming
• Assist with media opportunities
• Assist the Museum with the cultivation of relationships within the Indian community locally and regionally
Timeline:
The exhibit will be displayed at CDM January 18- May 11, 2025. Planning for Namaste, India will begin at the signing of this agreement. Training, promotion and marketing, and programs may take place prior to the exhibit opening and continue until the exhibit end date.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
- First-hand experience living in India
- Exceptional communication skills, especially verbally and through storytelling
- Ability to communicate with various stakeholder groups
- Connections with various cultural groups from India, and/or capacity to make connections
- Experience working with children and families in some capacity
