What You Will Contribute To AltosAn exciting opportunity is available for a talented Scientist I, II, or Senior Scientist to join the Bay Area Institute of Science at Altos Labs. You will work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment to tackle key questions in cell health, aging, and rejuvenation. Specifically, you will employ and development the latest functional genomic tools, combined with molecular and cellular biology approaches for mechanistic interrogation, to answer these questions in close collaboration with teams across Altos. Major responsibilities include:
- Engage in ground-breaking and innovative science with a group of talented scientists, in collaboration with the PI.
- Design and carry out research projects in collaboration with colleagues, outside agencies and collaborators.
- Think creatively and independently while designing and conducting experiments.
- Mentor and train other scientists/research associates within and outside the lab.
- Contribute to high impact publications in high quality scientific journals and communicate findings through presentations at key internal and external meetings/conferences.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience. The level of the position will depend on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of utilizing genomic or functional genomic (such as CRISPR screens) approaches to identify novel targets.
- Experience using cellular and/or molecular biology approaches for mechanistic studies.
- Highly motivated and can lead research projects or technology development independently.
- Documented record of professional achievement in the form of impactful publications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work within a team comprised of diverse expertise.
- Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
- Ability to organize work and set priorities.
- Ability to focus on details to produce accurate, high quality work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-doctoral or equivalent experience.
- Experience with CRISPR technology development, CRISPR-based perturbation screens, multi-omic techniques (methylation, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, Ribo-seq, etc), single-cell technologies, or massively parallel reporter screens.
- Experience with mass spectrometry and proteomics.
- Experience or knowledge of protein biochemistry, structural biology, and RNA biology.
- Experience with stem cell biology and tissue/cell engineering (such as cellular reprogramming, iPSC differentiation, organoid models, or mouse models).
- Experience with bioinformatics.

Salary range: Scientist I, 136,850 - 185,150; Scientist II, 161,000 - 240,500; Senior Scientist, 185,000 - 264,000
