The Float Pool provides a unique experience for caregivers to care for diverse populations of patients in many units, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills.
A caregiver in this position works rotating days/nights from 7:00AM—7:30PM or 7:00PM—7:30AM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement and monitor patient care plans.
Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Two years of recent related nursing experience for external applicants
Less than two years of experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer approval for internal applicants OR military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
