Job Description Summary

The Ott Center Assistant (temp staff) positions support the management and execution of all Ott Center programming including internal and external indoor track & field meets, open training, community events, and any non-related track events held within the facility. This position will perform a variety of operational functions in addition to opening and closing the facility, setting up and breaking down facility equipment, and providing a high level of customer service to coaches, staff, participants, training members, and clients. This position will receive direct supervision from the Ott Center Manager and indirect supervision from Penn Track & Field coaches, administrators, and event/meet directors.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Open and close facility.  Serve as early morning or evening facility supervisor as assigned.
  • Set up and breakdown any facility equipment needed during shift or before next shift.
  • Control membership access into the facility during open training times, enforce open training membership policies and procedures, and sell/distribute membership access passes.
  • Control participant and spectator access into the facility during events, assisting with admission sales, scanning admission tickets, and restricting prohibited items.
  • Perform crowd management functions supervising participants and spectators, restricting facility access, seating or bag drops in certain locations, enforcing entry/exit procedures, organizing cuing lines, and enforcing proper risk management policies.
  • Perform event staff duties as assigned to ensure the operational efficiency of a meet.
  • Support parking and transportation plans managing River Fields Drive access, distributing parking passes, enforcing parking policies, and assisting with the drop off and pick up of coaches, staff, and participants for collegiate buses.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to coaches, staff, participants, training members, and clients through effective communication and problem solving.
  • Perform administrative work as assigned by Ott Center Manager.
  • Perform other general operational duties as assigned
