Position Summary

The Director of Enterprise Applications is accountable for the operations, health, and effective usage of business applications and supporting technologies used across the Apogee organization and/or in multiple business segments. This role leads the strategy, development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise application systems that support the organizations business operations and objectives.  Reporting to the VP of Digital Applications, this person will partner closely with Corporate Functions (Finance, HR, Procurement, Legal, IT) and collaborate with IT stakeholders to ensure system maintenance and productivity, as well as aligned solution delivery to drive business value with appropriate governance.  This role manages a team of professionals, collaborating with stakeholders across departments, and ensuring that technology solutions align with business goals to drive efficiently, scalability, and innovation. 

Responsibilities

Operations, Support, and Maintenance of Enterprise Applications. Scope includes existing applications used across Apogee and/or in multiple business segments, both on-premise and cloud based. Types of systems include, in varying capacity: ERP, financial-related systems, ITSM, procurement system, safety/EHS system, testing automation software, and integration tools.

  • Responsible for day-to-day support and maintenance of enterprise applications and supporting tools, to ensure business continuity and productivity.
  • Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and meet performance standards.
  • Responsible for vendor relationships with key enterprise applications, as well as necessary escalations for resolution in a timely manner. 
  • Monitor and manage the lifecycle of enterprise applications, including updates and upgrades.
  • Accountable for ITGCs and audits related to enterprise applications. This includes ongoing documentation needs for audits, remediations from audit findings, and continuous improvement for ITGC-related processes and roles/responsibilities.
  • Collaborate across IT stakeholders to maintain and enhance the application inventory and supporting architecture diagrams, and lead opportunities for rationalization and optimized usage of enterprise applications and tools.
  • Ensure technology remains in compliance with security and data privacy policies and standards,
  • Collaborate with Segment BRMs to provide guidance and assistance with applications used by individual business segments, as needed.

Enterprise IT Leadership and Team Management. Lead and motivate a team of functional and technical analysts to ensure the needs of the organization are met.

  • Provide functional supervision and motivation to staff. This includes workforce planning, hiring, performance management, coaching, and career development. Drive a high-performing team culture aligned to business outcomes, focused on best practices to leverage scale.  Allocate resources effectively to ensure timely delivery of projects and tasks.
  • Support the VP of Digital Applications to establish and manage the IT budget for enterprise applications. Responsible for forecasts, vendor management, license agreements and renewals, invoice processing, and overall control of technology spend across enterprise applications, considering scalability with the growth of the company.
  • Participate in the oversight of technology service suppliers and delivery of their services. This includes providing customer feedback, oversight of service agreements and commitments being met, and corrective action plans with providers if not meeting their commitments.
  • Evaluate internal vs outsourced resourcing models as appropriate, to ensure cost effectiveness as well as meeting organizational needs.
  • Manage the work funnel and deliverables with external resources to ensure accountability and quality of work in a future-proof manner.
  • Ensure necessary cross-training and documentation for sustainability, with both internal and external staff.
