About the role

Biostatistician, Junior

The Opportunity:

Booz Allen is looking for candidates to support biostatistics for multiple research programs in the Federal Government. The government need is for extensive expertise in computational analysis and data mining of human genomic whole genome and whole exome sequencing, epigenomics to identify differentially methylated regions (DMRs) on DNA and histones, transcriptomic data, including high throughput transcriptomics (HTT), and toxicogenomic data.

In this position, you will work independently and in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to assist the government in providing statistical and computational analysis capabilities for large-scale genetic, transcriptomics, and toxicogenomic datasets using algorithms to efficiently extract or process data, developing and executing research plans involving analysis of large-scale multi-omics data, documenting and disseminating best practices and methods for biostatistics analysis, and advising on experimental and study design, suggesting data reduction such as clustering analysis and data visualization methods, biostatistics, or support vector machine (SVM) analysis. You’ll also assist the government in developing and applying biostatistics processing and analyses that are validated, modular, and reproducible, providing programming support, testing, and deployment for biostatistics programs, and presenting data and results in client meetings and scientific forums. You’ll perform publication and meeting presentation support for creation of figures and text for methods and analysis results for writing of manuscripts, abstracts, whitepapers, and presentation of data to research teams.

Work with us as we use data science for good.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • Experience in quantitative analytics and statistical modeling using statistical techniques
  • Experience with statistical analysis of Next Generation Sequencing or microarray genotype data, and multi-omics data analysis using statistical methods
  • Experience programming and testing with R, Python, Perl, C++, or Java
  • Knowledge of data modeling concepts for biological data
  • Knowledge of human genomic data and common open-source biostatistics analysis tools
  • Ability to ensure delivery of consistent and reproducible biostatistics data analysis, analysis pipelines, programming and source code, statistical products, data sets, and approaches and solutions
  • Ability to communicate complex statistical concepts clearly and concisely to management, clients, researchers, and on-site staff
  • Ability to quickly digest new concepts and apply them practically
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience in biostatistics, statistics, genetics, or computational biology, or Master's degree and 1+ years of experience in biostatistics, statistics, genetics, or computational biology

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with toxicology and toxicogenomic statistical analysis
  • Experience conducting analyses in high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud environments
  • Experience conducting statistical genetics for large-scale Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) analyses, including local ancestry inference
  • Experience with Cheminformatics statistical analyses
  • Ability to independently conduct biostatistical analysis, report results, and draw scientifically valid conclusions
  • Ability to stay up to date with new trends and developments in multiple areas of biostatistics and computational methods, and advise the government regarding possible applications of such procedures to the government's research

Vetting:

Applicants selected will be subject to a government investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements of the U.S. government client.
