As an Engineering Manager at charles, you’ll steer challenging yet rewarding engineering decisions: transitioning to a cutting-edge event-driven architecture, modularizing and refactoring a complex codebase, and enhancing our monitoring and alerting systems. Join us on this exciting journey.</p> <p><strong>THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead a team of 6-9 engineers working on charles’ integration products. This would include expanding our data ingestion and transformation capabilities on contacts and events, building out new integrations, and improving the stability &amp; observability of current and future integrations. We continue to evolve over time and your scope of responsibility will grow and shift, but you’ll initially support this team</li> <li>Partner closely with Product to balance new product developments with technical investments to set the teams up for long-term success</li> <li>Review and coach engineers on architecture proposals. Challenge the team’s approach on reliability, performance, security, and maintainability. Facilitate over-arching architecture decisions across teams and systems</li> <li>Be accountable for project delivery and the software development lifecycle within the team you manage</li> <li>Trust but verify: raise the bar on testing and quality alongside your team of engineers</li> <li>Co-create career plans with your team that align with aspirations and team needs</li> <li>Propose and implement improvements to ways of working through 1:1 qualitative feedback and quality &amp; velocity metrics</li> <li>Coordinate incident response by pulling in the right engineers and communicating with our stakeholders</li> <li>Foster a culture of strong accountability, empowerment, and customer love in your team</li> </ul> <p><strong>YOU’LL FIT GREAT WITH THESE SKILLS AND VALUES</strong></p> <ul> <li>2+ years managing high-performing engineering teams</li> <li>5+ years working in engineering roles at fast-paced product engineering companies</li> <li>Strong software fundamentals and proficiency in modern programming languages such as Node.js (preferred), Python, or Go. Good understanding of frontend technologies. Proficiency in databases such as PostgreSQL.
